Learn MoreTraffic Signals (TS)
Gilbert is currently working on enhancements for several locations that require either traffic signals or street transportation safety improvements. The town regularly monitors traffic movements through its Traffic Operations Center, which includes analyzing data such as traffic volumes, crash data, and turn movements. Based on this information, traffic engineers identify specific locations that warrant improvements. In some cases, additional turn lanes or through lanes may enhance safety, while in others, a traffic signal installation may be necessary. Traffic signals are significant investments, so these projects are carefully prioritized and added to the 10-Year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) accordingly.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING CONSTRUCTION:
Construction for each project is carried out independently and depends on material availability and resource scheduling.
- The duration of construction varies, typically lasting two months or longer, contingent upon material availability and coordination with utilities.
- Work primarily occurs during daytime hours on weekdays, with occasional weekend work if it benefits the project schedule, the traveling public, or local businesses and residents.
- Roads generally remain open with lane reductions and possible turn restrictions to divert traffic from the work zone.
- Sidewalks may be closed for ADA-related work, with signage directing pedestrians around the construction area.
- Access to residences and businesses will be maintained. In some cases, notifications will be sent to nearby residents or businesses, and specific coordination efforts will be made.
