Gilbert's City of the Future initiative is focused on  maintaining the quality of life we currently enjoy well into the future. The process of monitoring performance measures across a diverse set of service lines will drive innovation and continuous improvement while also providing us with a better understanding of how to achieve our goals and serve the community.

Performance scorecards and data dashboards are being developed in departments across the organization to help provide timely information on the efficiency and effectiveness of various services provided by Gilbert. By giving Gilbert residents, staff, and policy makers more information and by using data to drive decision-making, we can operate even more effectively to deliver exceptional service to our residents.

Program History

In 2017, Gilbert joined the national What Works Cities Initiative and, in 2021, was awarded Gold level certification, recognizing the extent to which leadership incorporates data and evidence in their decision making.

In early 2022, under the direction of the Town Manager’s Office, staff officially set out to develop a Performance Management program that will reach all departments in the organization. As of August 2023, the Public Works and Police departments have both been through the program as the first “pilots” and those dashboards are now available below.

As more in-depth analysis starts to occur within departments that have completed the program, additional goals will be developed around the dashboard metrics.

Legend:

  • Monitoring - Targets are not yet set and staff is collecting data
  • Meeting Target - Staff is meeting all performance targets
  • Near Target - Performance is within 10% of a target but is not meeting the target
  • Needs Improvement - Data shows that performance is below the target by more than 10%

Note: Some dashboards have multiple sections. You can switch between them by clicking the tabs at the top of each one.
