Gilbert’s goal is to sweep the main roadways twice a month; and residential streets once a month. However, unforeseen events such as storm debris removal can alter the schedule temporarily.

Hours of operation:
Residential streets- Monday-Thursday 5am - 3:30pm
Arterial streets- Tuesday-Friday 4am – 2:30pm

What you can do to help in residential areas:
  • Keep young children and pets away from the street sweeping vehicles.
  • Bulk trash (uncontained waste) should be placed in the street, up against the curb.
  • As soon as practical, move your trash cans back onto your property after they have been emptied.
  • Do not blow landscaping debris into the street.
  • Prevent soil erosion from landscaped areas from entering the street.
  • Do not back wash your pool to the street.
Streets and parking lots comprise a significant portion of the total impervious area (non-absorbing) within urban areas, like Gilbert. A large percentage, if not the entire area, of streets and parking lots are usually directly connected to the storm drain system. Street sweeping not only improves the appearance of the neighborhood, it also removes a large amount of debris and sediment that could have been washed into the storm drainage system.

The Town uses environmentally efficient street sweepers. These sweepers reduce the amount of dust that can be "thrown up" into the air by normal street sweepers. The dirt and debris collected from the roadways eventually end up in the landfill.
