Decisive Leadership is Needed to Avert a Looming Disaster on the Colorado River

If decisive action is not taken soon to reduce Colorado River water usage across the Basin, all who rely on the River, including the AMWUA municipalities, could see depleted levels at Lakes Mead and Powell, leading to a disastrous shortage in the entire River system.

The United States Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) has declared a Colorado River Tier 2A Shortage to begin January 1, 2023. Gilbert is prepared for these reductions and a Tier 2A shortage does not impact Gilbert’s ability to meet the needs of our community and deliver water to homes and businesses.
