Officer King, a graduate of the Gilbert Police Regional Academy was selected as the department's first Youth Community Engagement Officer. The position will focus on fostering strong relationships and engagement opportunities with Gilbert's youth.

Operation Safe Break was conducted from September 6 to October 8, 2024. Gilbert PD was joined by the Mesa and Queen Creek Police Departments in deploying increased police resources in addition to on-duty patrol teams to locations frequented by youth.

On the evening of Tuesday, October 8, members of Gilbert PD’s Special Assignment Unit (SAU), Street Crimes Unit (SCU), Property Crimes Unit (PCU), and Tempe PD’s ACTION Team arrested three individuals. At the time of the arrests, numerous firearms were recovered along with stolen property.
