Gilbert is thrilled to be partnering with Cactus Surf Park to bring the community’s first state-of-the-art recreational water park attraction to Gilbert Regional Park! A conceptual rendering of the future Cactus Surf Park

Cactus Surf Park will offer 25-acres of water activities for every age. The facility is permitted for the following amenities:

Water is Top of Mind

We know that we live in the desert and we’re taking extra steps to ensure that our most precious resource, water, is used wisely. This facility is expected to use less than 100 acre-feet per year. Partnering with Cactus Surf Park will save residents money and water since we will not need to utilize town-owned water. Gilbert has adopted a "Bring Your Own Water" policy that requires heavy water users to provide their own water resources, ensuring smart, sustainable growth for years to come.

Project History and Timeline

New Timeline Approval- May 2023

After meeting with residents and reviewing comments from Town staff, Cactus Surf Park created a more efficient design that will use 60% less water than before while maintaining the same desired effect.

The change made to a more water-efficient design will push back the projected opening date of Gilbert’s first water park to 2025. Construction will begin in 2023 for the much-anticipated state-of-the-art water park at Gilbert Regional Park.

At its May 2 meeting, the Gilbert Town Council approved an updated timeline and reduced water credits for Cactus Surf Park.

Community Meeting- August 2022

A community meeting was hosted by Cactus Surf Park on August 29th, 2022 at Perry High School to collect feedback from residents.

Residents wanted to know about traffic impacts, noise, lighting and most importantly, water.

Cactus Surf Park will consider reducing water usage from 200 acre-feet to 100 acre-feet due to the status of Arizona's water supply.

Next steps will include going through design review process and potentially changing timelines through a council approval.

FAQ's

How is this being funded? What is the cost to taxpayers?

The development will come at $0 cost to the Town. Cactus Surf Park will, at its own cost, construct, operate and maintain a Best-in-Class family entertainment center.

Does this effect the Town's water supply?

No, this will not impact the Town's water resources as Cactus Surf Park is supplying the water resources to Gilbert.

Where will it be located?

Cactus Surf Park will be located on 25-acres at Gilbert Regional Park. Visitors will enter the park from Queen Creek Road, just west of Higley Road and head south to the entrance of Cactus Surf Park.

What is the water source?

Cactus Surf Park will use recovered water credits delivered through the Town's potable water system. This structure was reviewed and approved by Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR).
