The Gilbert Town Council approved utility rates increase for wastewater, reclaimed water and environmental compliance (stormwater and air quality) fees for all customers in Gilbert that went into effect on April 1, 2023. 

The monthly flat fees for all residential customers increased by $2.51 for environmental compliance and $8.02 for wastewater. Rate adjustments are critical to maintaining the fiscal health of the utility operations and ensure continued quality services.

• March 3, 2022: Staff presents information regarding the need to increase rates for wastewater, reclaimed water and environmental compliance fees to Council at the Council Financial Retreat.

• December 13, 2022: Town Council adopted “Notice of Intent to Raise Rates and Fees” at Council meeting. 
• February 21, 2023: Town Council held a public hearing about new proposed fees and approved the new rates. All council meetings are open to the public and streamed live at gilbertaz.gov/gilbertlive. Sign up to receive meeting agendas via email or learn more about how to participate in public meetings on our council webpage. 
• April 1, 2023: New rates for wastewater, reclaimed water and environmental compliance went into effect on all utility statements issued after April 1, 2023.

Gilbert held two open houses to help answer questions regarding these rate changes.
