The Judicial Selection and Advisory Board reviews applications for judges of the municipal court, recommends to the Town Council the best qualified persons to become full-time town judges, evaluates the performance of incumbent full-time judges, and advises the Town Council about renewing contracts for judicial services. Board members serve without salary or compensation.
Per Town Code, membership of the Judicial Selection and Advisory Board include at least one member of the State Bar of Arizona who resides within the Town; one municipal court magistrate from another Arizona city or town; at least three Town residents who are not members of the State Bar of Arizona; the Court Administrator of the Gilbert Municipal Court; the Town Human Resources Director (or appointee). Typical terms are three years; however, the initial terms must be staggered.
Meeting Schedule This board meets on an as-needed basis only. Location: TBD (see posted agenda) Time: TBD Open Meeting Law Agendas and notices are posted at least 24 hours prior to a meeting or event. Agendas are removed from the website after the meeting. Draft minutes are posted to the website within three working days of a meeting. The draft minutes contain all legal action taken. The Town of Gilbert endeavors to make all public meetings accessible to persons with disabilities. Persons needing any type of special accommodations are asked to notify the Town Clerk's Office at least 72 hours in advance.
