Pile Size Limit

• Pile must be one (1) single pile no larger than 10' long x 5' wide x 5' high
  
  
• Tree trimmings must be no larger than 5' in length x 12" in diameter

Pile Placement

• Place all acceptable bulk items in the street, against the curb
  
  
• Place items at least five feet away from all obstacles like trash and recycle containers, vehicles or other objects that will interfere with our trucks' ability to pick the pile up

Bulk Schedule

• Pickup is every five weeks with the exception of the Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks
  
  
• Place items out:
  • No earlier than the Saturday prior to your collection week
  • No later than 5 AM on Monday of your collection week

Report A Bulk Trash Issue

To report a missed bulk trash pickup or bulk trash placed out in your neighborhood outside of your pickup week, please contact customer service at (480) 503-6400 during business hours (Monday - Thursday, 7 AM - 6 PM).

Appliance Pickups

Large appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, water heaters, and air conditioners are not accepted in Gilbert’s bulk trash pickup program. 
 
Residents may schedule to have up to two appliances picked up for a trip fee of $16 during their bulk trash pickup week or $85 for requests made outside of their bulk trash pickup week. 

Call (480) 503-6400 to schedule a pickup. Please call before noon on the Tuesday of your bulk pickup week.

After scheduling, place appliance out for pick up according to the following guidelines:    

• Place appliances in the street up against the curb
• Limit of 2 total appliances can be scheduled per collection
• All food and beverages must be removed from refrigerators and freezers prior to scheduled collection
• Ensure that appliances are odor-free

All items picked up in our bulk trash program are taken to a landfill.

Gilbert's bulk trash team has collected more than 14K tons of trash in 2020 so far. That is 27% more trash than last year.

Donating items, such as furniture or other household items, instead of putting them in your bulk trash pile benefits the community, local organizations and the environment. Plus, many of these organizations offer donation pickup! Contact your favorite second-hand organization to learn more about donation drop off and pickup options. 

Electronics, tires, household cleaners and more can be taken to Gilbert's Household Hazardous Waste Facility.

Special Bulk Trash Pickup

Special bulk pickups are available for a bulk piles that exceed the 10’ X 5’ X 5’ limit, but are not larger than 20’ X 5’ X 5’.

The items can be collected for a $100 fee.

Want to haul it yourself?

There are two designated transfer stations available for Gilbert residents to dispose of one single load of waste once every 30 days at no cost.

Requirements to utilize this program include:

• You must be a Gilbert resident with a valid photo I.D. and a copy of your most recent Town of Gilbert utility bill, delinquent bills will not be accepted.
• Valid photo I.D. must have the same name and address as on the Town of Gilbert utility bill.
• Load must not exceed one ton. Loads up to one can be dumped at no charge, however, if the load exceeds one ton you will be charged for the cost of the entire load.
• Load cannot contain any Household Hazardous Waste (HHW).
• No appliances
• No televisions

Will my bulk trash pickup day change on holidays?

There is no bulk trash pickup the weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas.

First, please verify that your items are on the list of acceptable items and that they do not exceed the pickup guidelines.

On the street, against the curb away from any items that could inhibit our driver’s ability to access the pile.
