CURRENT PHASE: CONSTRUCTION
Construction Timeline: Summer 2024 - Summer 2026

Project Description

Construction begins this summer for the extension of Ocotillo Road between Greenfield Road and Higley Road. Improvements will take place along the Ocotillo Road alignment from east of Greenfield Road to Higley Road. This roadway extension will ultimately provide visitors direct access to the Gilbert Regional Park from Ocotillo Road.

The roadway extension will incorporate four structures to span existing water courses including the Roosevelt Water Conservation District Canal, East Maricopa Floodway, Chandler Heights Regional Basin and Queen Creek Wash. The new roadway will be a multi-modal facility which will require modifying existing and installing new traffic signals, and relocating the 69kV overhead power lines to accomodate future trails and enhance pedestrian and bicycle facilities. To accommodate planned improvements as part of this project, contractor crews have already completed a portion of the 69kV overhead line relocations and upgrades to Roosevelt Water Conservation District (RWCD) canal infrastructure on the west side of the East Maricopa Floodway.
