The event, hosted by the Gilbert Veterans Advisory Board, Mayor Brigette Peterson and the USS Arizona Legacy Foundation, will take place on Friday, March 1st from 9:30 – 11:30 AM in the Gilbert Town Hall Council Chambers.

Gilbert is the town sponsor for the USS Arizona (SSN-803), named after the battleship that was tragically lost during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The lives of 1,177 crew members were lost that day.

As captain of the USS Arizona, Digan oversees the crew responsible for preparing the submarine for its first deployment at sea. Digan has been a Navy officer for nearly 19 years and his most recent at-sea assignment was as the executive officer aboard the submarine USS San Juan.
