Point In Time Homeless (PIT) Count

The Point-in-Time (PIT) Homeless Count is an annual street and shelter count to determine the number of people experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County during a given point in time. This count is part of a national effort to identify the extent of homelessness throughout the country. The count includes a brief survey to identify the needs of those experiencing homelessness in the community.

Volunteers are needed to interview the unsheltered population within the Town of Gilbert boundaries. The count will take place between 5:30a- 11:30am.  Volunteers can also donate supplies to create a kit to be distributed during the count.  Donations can include socks, Chapstick, band-aids, hand warmers, waterless shampoo, combs, and Kleenex.  All volunteers are required to attend a training prior to the day of the count.

To participate in the count contact Melanie Dykstra at melanie.dykstra@gilbertaz.gov
