Every year, lives are lost due to heat-related illness. In 2021 alone, 338 people died in Maricopa County. The heat can affect anyone but persons who are homeless, elderly, or young are at an increased risk. In an effort to provide resources to those in need, Gilbert has partnered with the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) and other organizations to support the Heat Relief Network.

To sustain these efforts, Gilbert is calling for businesses, residents, and volunteer groups to help with bottled water and other new non-perishable, heat-related donations.  Volunteers are also needed to assist as Heat Relief teams.
