Post Date:06/13/2016 9:35 AM

Gilbert-BudgetGilbert, Ariz.- The annual approval of the budget is the essential first step to making Gilbert work. Whether it’s a road expansion, park update, new building design, or the hiring of public safety personnel, the budget makes it possible for Gilbert to provide a high quality of life for all residents.

Council members approved the FY17 budget Thursday, including new positions, upgrades and more, for the growing community. Some of the highlights include trail improvements, two new playground structures and four playground equipment remodels.

The budget also includes improvements to public safety including two fire truck replacements, six new firefighters and the design of a new fire station. The Police Department will be able to hire 10 new uniformed positions to help keep residents safe as well as two support staff members.

Gilbert’s Water and Wastewater Plants will expand to accommodate the growing community and several road improvement and expansion projects will also help keep Gilbert’s infrastructure proportional to its population.

These are just a few of the items that were approved in the FY17 Budget. For more information, visit www.gilbertaz.gov/budget.
