Youth Spring Ball Program
Games begin Monday, March 30 through Thursday, May 7, 2015
The Gilbert Parks and Recreation Department offers a Youth Spring Ball Program for boys and girls ages 4-12. We offer 5 divisions: T-ball boys and girls ages 4-6, Boys Coach Pitch ages 7-9, Boys Baseball ages 10-12, Girls Coach Pitch ages 7-9, Girls Slow Pitch ages 10-12. On-Line & Mail-In Registration begins in January for this program at www.gilbertrecreation.com. The teams begin practices in March and games begin March 30 through May 7. This is an instructional recreation program that emphasizes fun, skill development, and team unity.
Volunteer coaches needed: Are you looking for one of the most rewarding jobs around? If so, the Gilbert Parks and Recreation Department has the one for you! We are currently recruiting volunteer coaches for our upcoming Youth Spring Ball Program. Parents and friends are encouraged to learn ways in which they can contribute to a child's growth through participation in sports. Volunteering to be a coach not only gives you the opportunity to learn more about the sport itself, it also gives you the chance to get involved with your child and his or her friends. Background checks are done on volunteer coaches.

*** Important Hershey Track and Field Information***
Due to a change in format by the Hershey Track and Field Organization, the Gilbert Parks and Recreation Department will not be hosting a local Hershey Track and Field Meet this year.
The Hershey Track and Field Organization have restructured their efforts and are no longer offering this program in its traditional format. It remains to be seen whether in the future other types of local opportunities will arise that offer a program similar to what was formerly Hershey Track and Field. As a department, we will continue to watch for any such opportunities that may be a good fit for our community.
For this year, should your child be interested in participating in a competitive valley wide track meet, the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association will be hosting a track and field meet on Saturday, May 2nd at Kellis High school in Glendale, AZ. Participants do not need to qualify to participate and a $15 registration fee is required for 3 events. Registration and information will be posted soon at www.azpra.org. Children must be of participating age (9-14) as of April 1, 2015. Medals will be awarded to top finishers, and ribbons will be awarded to all participants. T-shirts will be available for purchase on site. For more information, please view the APRA flyer here.
